Playing your piano
The microphone is not picking up notes reliably
Choose the microphone in the instrument settings, then calibrate it near your piano. If noise interrupts the test, choose Try again.
Play one note at a time. Conversations and overlapping notes can affect recognition. You can also use the on-screen keyboard or connect a compatible MIDI keyboard.
The microphone supports notes from C2 to D6. For lower or higher notes, narrow the note range or use the touch or MIDI keyboard.
Microphone access is not allowed
On your iPhone or iPad, open Settings, then Privacy & Security, then Microphone, and allow Chroméa to use it. Return to the game.
The tempo is too fast
In Play, choose the piece’s tempo before starting or replaying it. In Practice, adjust your session’s tempo before playing or from the pause menu. You can go as low as 10 BPM.
Your progress
How do I finish a painting?
Complete its five stages. A stage is passed with at least 80% correct notes and 50% of notes within the timing window. The painting rewards successful playing; letting the score scroll without playing is not enough.
In Play, you can replay a stage or the whole piece once unlocked, at your chosen tempo. Continuous mode joins the stages; pauses mode separates them. Practice is for creating your own sight-reading exercises.
Will an update keep my saved progress?
Updates are designed to keep your progress and preferences. Avoid deleting the app to update it: uninstalling can erase local data.
If you enable iCloud copies, you can recover progress using the same Apple Account. Check that a recent copy is listed before switching devices.
How do I manage my iCloud copies?
Open progress recovery in Settings. To use a copy, check its preview and confirm the restoration. It is not automatic.
Under My iCloud data, Export my copies lets you save a file containing your data. This export is separate from restoring progress in the game.
Delete my iCloud copies asks for confirmation and stops new uploads on this device. Your local progress and purchase are kept. Turn copies off on your other devices too, so they do not recreate them.
These features require a connection to the same iCloud account. Uploading a new copy requires enough storage. Pausing copies does not delete those already stored.
Full access
What is included for free?
The first painting and sight-reading from C to G in the treble clef. A one-time purchase opens the other settings and the rest of the journey. Stages and pieces are then discovered through playing.
I already bought full access
On the offer screen, choose Restore purchase using the Apple Account you used to buy it. You do not need to buy it again.
Restoring a purchase restores full access, not your progress. To recover progress, use an iCloud copy if you previously enabled copies.
How do I request a refund?
Apple handles requests through Report a Problem and decides whether to approve them.
Once a refund is confirmed and reflected in the app, access returns to the free version. Saved progress is not erased for this reason.
